Skiing Courses in Manali

During winters, Ski Slopes in Manali can provide an exhilarating experience of skiing in the white powdery snow. In this course, you’ll learn basic things right from how to walk on snow to skiing on snow. Your instructor would work with you to develop the skills required to ski on various kinds of slopes and terrains. By the end of this beginner course, you’ll be able to ski in proper manner.

Activity Itinerary / Inclutions

Day 01

Arrival in Manali transfer to the hotel with other friends who are participating with you for this course. Arrival at hotel program coordinators will abreast all of you about the program, its objectives and its learning outcome.

After check in,

  • Breakfast

  • Introduction of program, its coordinator and instructors

  • Introduction of ski gears

  • Acclimatization Hike

Post lunch they will be introduced to ski equipments, ski gear and techniques like walking with ski, skating steps.

 

Day 02 

Understanding:

  • Fall and recovery

  • Different style of walking steps and turn

  • Snow Plough

Day2 begins with a Warm-up session followed by sumptuous breakfast.

After the breakfast the previous day learning is revisited, more focus is laid on skating steps, fall and recovery followed by walking techniques which are called Herring Bone and side steps.

The program instructor gives a demonstration of Snow plough.

Post Lunch session reinforces the snow plough methodology and practice. Evening come back to the hostel. Dinner and go to sleep.

Day 03 

  • Snow plough turn

  • Kick turn

After breakfast you will practice with snow plough on snow. You will then learn to turn the ski on a down- hill slope using snow plow turn.

Post Lunch session: Introduction to new skill called Kick turn. Through this technique learn to turn ski by kicking method on a steep slope.

 

 Day 04

  • Parallel turn

  • Cable Car ride

Post Breakfast and lunch practice the newly acquired skill i.e. kick turn.

The program coordinator will make you familiar with a new technique called Parallel Turn. This technique is useful while downhill with high speed and they take a sudden turn.

Post lunch you will use the Gondola to reach an altitude of 2800metre to get to Fatru which is surrounded by spruce trees and Rhododendron where you can enjoy the beauty of meadow, have some food and then relax. Later on, return back by the cable car.

 

Day 05 

  • Free Practice session

  • Test session

  • Participation Certification

The first half of the day is designated for practice. In this session you all will enjoy skiing on slop and practice the newly acquired skill under the guidance of instructors.

Post lunch you will be tested on the basis of the skills that you have learnt during the past few days.
